Love your Neighbour:
Prayer can be a powerful way to witness and care for the non-Christians around you. You’d be surprised by how many people appreciate the thoughtfulness of prayer (especially when they’re struggling!) Why not challenge yourself to ask one non-Christian friend or stranger what you can pray for them this week? You might find someone just waiting for God’s grace out there (and it’s a great way to start up a conversation about Jesus to boot).
Love your Church:
If you’re not praying for the global Church already, why not lift her up? We’re a family whose ‘parts should have equal concern for each other’ (1 Cor. 12:25b). These are challenging times – and there’s certainly plenty to praise and petition the Lord for.
Lots of excellent charities work tirelessly to bring the needs of the global Church to us. Barnabas Fund is one of them, releasing a new prayer diary every few months. It’s perfect for busy people with short, strong prayer requests for each day for persecuted brethren around the world. Get it for free online here, or check out the work of other charities, like the Joshua Project and Voice of the Martyrs.
Love your World“Approximately 5 billion people in the world are not true followers of Christ. We are trusting God to raise up 10 million Christ-centered multiplying disciples and 5 million new church plants by end of 10 million disciples and 5 million new churches would mean that everyone would know at least one person who follows Jesus.”
The Global Prayer Movement is seeking to change this. Join the challenge now and pray daily for God to mould your heart, multiply your Christian influence on those around you, and mobilise His servants around the world.
If you’d like a bit more guidance, Operation World is another great place to head. Access free, full-page prayer profiles on every country in the world. The entries are slightly longer than other sites’, so why not pick a country to pray for once a week? You might even find yourself becoming the local Pub Quiz champion while you’re at it…
“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months” (James 5:17). Whether you choose one or all of these resources, rejoice in the chance to make a real difference. Let us know if you have any prayer resources or requests yourself in the comments below, or by emailing email@example.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
